At RS Clare, supporting our local community has always been an important part of who we are. Each year we set aside a budget to help charities and community initiatives across the city. When the war in Ukraine began, we knew we had an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Through our company flats, we were able to provide homes for families arriving in Liverpool. With the help of volunteers from across RS Clare, we decorated and furnished the flats, while colleagues also stepped in to help with shopping, navigating the city, and overcoming language barriers.
To date, we’ve supported three Ukrainian families. Two members of these families are now employed at RS Clare, and we’re delighted to see them thriving in their roles. Their children are settled in school and college, and the families have become firm friends of ours. One of the ladies has even brought a flavour of home into our offices with her incredible baking skills.
This journey has been an inspiring one for everyone involved. It has not only provided safety and stability for the families, but also enriched our own team with new friendships, experiences and cultural exchange.
More than three years on, it’s heartening to see the families well established in Liverpool. We are proud to have played a part in their story and look forward to continuing our support for our community both here and abroad.
