Improving Valve Performance In Over 200 Wells, Over 3 Offshore Fields – Qatar Petroleum, Qatar
The Problem
Engineers reported that they had been experiencing issues with valve integrity in over 200 wells, across 3 offshore fields. The amount of time being spent on corrective maintenance soared and it was concluded that the valve lubricant being used was not sufficiently protecting the valve components.

The Solution
A Lead Production Engineer at Qatar Petroleum engaged with RS Clare’s Technical Sales Manager for the Middle East regarding a trial for ClareTech Valve Lubricant 601™ in the 200-plus wells where they were experiencing problems. A trial of ClareTech Valve Lubricant 601™ was initiated and planned for a 12 month period, their expectation was that a higher grade grease would make a big difference to the compromised wells.
The results of the trial was a 100% success rate (14 out of 14 wells) with the application of ClareTech Valve Lubricant 601™. This meant major cost savings as they no longer had to replace costly Xmas tree valves. The product was applied on wellhead and Xmas tree brands such as Cameron, Wood Group and FMC, on a variety of operational trees including oil producers, powered water injectors, gas injectors and gas producing wells. This demonstrates the wide versatility in terms of OEM valve manufacturers and types of operations that are all suited to ClareTech Valve Lubricant 601™.
