RS Clare supports Tom McAlister’s 5K run for Asthma + Lung UK

At RS Clare, we are incredibly proud of our employee, Tom McAlister, who completed his first ever 5K run last Sunday (14th June) in memory of his mum, raising funds for the vital charity, Asthma + Lung UK.

A personal journey
Tom’s journey to the finish line was one of real determination and heart. Over the past year, Tom has been on a remarkable health transformation, losing an incredible 5 stone (32kg) so far. Getting into running for the first time in his life was one of his 2026 goals and last weekend, he crossed the 5K finish line in a moment that represented more than a fitness achievement.

The run was dedicated to Tom’s mum, who passed away 3 years ago after experiencing difficulties with her breathing. She was, in Tom’s own words, his biggest supporter in everything he did. Following her passing, Tom’s family chose Asthma + Lung UK as a tribute charity – and it remains a cause that sits very close to his heart.

About Asthma + Lung UK
Asthma + Lung UK is the UK’s leading lung health charity, and the only charity fighting for everyone’s right to breathe. Their vision is a world where everyone has healthy lungs, and they work tirelessly through research, campaigning, and direct support to make that a reality.

The need for their work is significant: 1 in 5 of us will develop a lung condition during our lifetime, with a new diagnosis occurring every minute in the UK. Every pound raised brings us one step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

RS Clare’s support
We are delighted to have made a £250 donation to Asthma + Lung UK in support of Tom’s fundraising efforts. It is a privilege to support one of our own employees as he takes on something so personal and so meaningful. At RS Clare, we are all so proud of Tom and we are sure that his mum would be incredibly proud too.
