We are always looking for ways to make RS Clare a better place to work. Sometimes that means a big change, and sometimes it is a small one – like in this case – that quietly makes our operations run a little smoother. It also assists with enhancing the well-being of our employees.
Welcome to the next post in our series on how we are revamping colleague facilities across the company. This time, we are introducing our newly transformed upstairs office, now serving as a quiet and relaxed working space.
A space designed for concentration
Open-plan offices are brilliant for collaboration and quick conversations. Although they aren’t always ideal when you need to knuckle down and think. Background chatter, phones ringing, and the natural buzz of a busy workplace can sometimes make focus a real challenge.
So, we created somewhere different. We took our upstairs office and turned it into a calm, distraction-free space where our team can switch off the noise and take some time for uninterrupted concentration, either to:
- write a report
- get some training done
- fit in professional study around work
- focus on an important work task
It is the perfect spot to make real progress without interruptions.
It also doubles as a great informal meeting place. When our team needs somewhere to sit down together to talk through a piece of work away from their desk, this quiet space is perfect for doing exactly that.
Why it matters
The right environment makes a real difference to focus and productivity. When people can fully concentrate, tasks take less time and feel less stressful. Our colleagues can leave the room having completed what they set out to do, rather than working in short bursts between distractions.
Professional study and training can also be tricky to balance alongside a busy workload. Having a dedicated, quiet space removes one of the biggest hurdles, finding somewhere to focus, and makes that balance a little easier to manage. It also frees up meeting rooms for use by larger groups of employees.
A small change we’re proud of
This is a small change, but one we are really pleased with, and one we are looking forward to seeing the team enjoy. Keep an eye out for the next post in this series, where we will share another upgrade to our employee facilities.
