RS Clare sponsored the 2026 ‘The Race to the Line’ STEM initiative for the second year running by providing £950 in funding for the event.
During the event, students across the region designed, built, and raced model cars using bio-compostable foam materials. Participants apply scientific and engineering principles, including aerodynamics, forces, motion, and friction reduction, to optimise their vehicles for speed and performance on a track to compete against each other.
One of the most valuable aspects of ‘The Race to the Line’ is the bridge it builds between formal education and professional practice. The principles students apply during the event are the same principles that underpin real-world engineering and manufacturing processes.
