RS Clare Backs the UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2024

RS Clare

On 25th September 2024, hundreds of UK organisations raised the SDG flag, and showed their commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Building on our participation in 2023, RS Clare is again proud to have participated in the event.

This year marks nine years since the global community first embraced the UN’s SDGs—17 goals aimed at tackling issues like poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental protection by 2030. These goals, supported by 169 targets and 232 indicators, represent a global effort to create a fairer, more sustainable world for everyone.

RS Clare is proud to be part of this global movement. On 25th September, we joined businesses, government agencies, and civil society in raising the SDG flag to help spread awareness and inspire action toward achieving these critical goals. At RS Clare, sustainability is central to our business strategy, and we are committed to making a positive impact through innovation and green practices. We’ve identified three specific SDGs where we believe we can drive meaningful change:

Sustainable Cities and Communities: As the world urbanises, the SDGs call for making cities and communities safer, more inclusive, and sustainable. RS Clare is committed to supporting this vision through environmentally responsible practices that contribute to safer, greener urban environments.

Responsible Consumption and Production: Sustainable resource use is critical to ensuring long-term economic stability and environmental health. We aim to lead by example by adopting energy-efficient processes and minimising waste, aligning our operations with responsible consumption and production practices.

Life Below Water: The health of our oceans and marine ecosystems is vital for the planet’s survival. The SDGs focus on protecting marine life and ensuring sustainable use of ocean resources. At RS Clare, we are actively working to reduce our environmental footprint, contributing to the preservation of these essential ecosystems.

While the UK has made some strides toward meeting the SDGs, a lot of work remains. According to *Measuring Up 2.0*, a report from the UN Global Compact Network UK released in 2022, the country is only performing well on 17% of the SDG targets relevant to domestic implementation. Inequality and other persistent challenges are preventing faster progress, making it even more urgent for businesses, governments, and civil society to work together.

With only 10% of people in the UK aware of the SDGs, raising the SDG flag this September is a vital step in spreading the word and encouraging collective action. RS Clare was honoured to stand with the global community, striving to make the 2030 Agenda a reality through our dedication to sustainability and responsible innovation.

Join us in championing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and helping to build a more sustainable, equitable future for all.
