R S Clare, Merseyside’s successful specialist manufacturer of greases, road markings and anti skid surfacing has appointed a new Managing Director to further develop the long established business. The company was included in the latest London Stock Exchange’s list of the top ‘1000 firms to inspire Britain’.

PAUL VANN comes from Nynas AB, the $2 billion turnover Swedish supplier of naphthenic base oils and derivatives where he has been Sales Director – Global Accounts.

Ian Meadows Executive Chairman said:  “Paul comes to us to take up the baton which I have held for 35 years, to further grow our profitable private business. The wealth of experience he has gained in export markets will be invaluable since over half of our business is exported, as will his former life in the fields of aeronautical engineering, IT and the Oil industry”.

“Furthermore Paul embraces the ethos which our people focused business espouses”.

Paul has a wife Stephanie and two grown up sons. Hobbies include cycling, walking and generally keeping fit.

“Special thanks are due”, said Mr Meadows “to Roy Coldwell the Operations Director, who has managed the business day to day since Noel Patterson’s departure last June”. Mr Coldwell remains with the company, and he has an important role to play as the 268 year old company continues its £5 million investment in the UK’s latest state of the art Grease manufacturing plant.
