RS Clare raise £2000 for Marie Curie

RS Clare have raised £2000 for Marie Curie Liverpool from a series of donations and sponsorships which included taking part in the Wirral Coastal Walk recently. Five RS Clare employees battled against the elements to complete the 15mile course from Secombe to Thursaston along the Wirral peninsula. On a Sunday in May when driving rain and cold winds tried to dampen their ardor for much of the day, our ‘rainy day heroes completed the course in bright sunshine. The charity was selected to benefit from the sponsorship in memory of Tommy Vickers. Tommy was an engineer at RS Clare for over 40 years when sadly he lost his battle with a brain tumour in April. Tommy was a well respected member of the RS Clare team and the rest of the team felt that they had do something fitting in his memory by way of a final farewell. Tommy’s widow Iris accompanied by son Tommy and brother-in-law Brian, who also undertook the sponsored walk, received the cheque at a ceremony at the RS Clare site in Liverpool, They in turn and representatives of RS Clare went to Marie Curie in Woolton to make the donation directly to the staff as a thank you for caring for Tommy in his final days.
